Gold and Silver Cardboard Applications: Planning the Material Route

The YDLM1300B is a gantry-type laminating and coating machine for gold and silver cardboard and aluminized transfer paper. Its listed processes include wet lamination, film peeling, back coating and drying. Review the model specifications alongside the project requirements below.

Define gold and silver cardboard correctly

In this context, card refers to paperboard with a metallic-finish material structure. It does not mean bank cards, smart cards or office-laminated badges. The YDLM1300B should therefore be discussed as laminating and coating equipment within a paper-based material workflow. The desired metallic appearance is only one part of the finished-material specification.

Turn an application idea into a specification

For a proposed carton, sleeve, display or gift-packaging component, identify the paper grade, surface appearance, artwork, dimensions and expected downstream processes. These are application briefs to assess, not a statement that every packaging design is already validated. Supply a reference sample so terms such as bright silver, matte finish or smooth surface have an agreed physical meaning.

Check printing and conversion on the real structure

Where printing, creasing, folding or other converting is part of the design, assess those operations using the trial laminate. Inspect the agreed aspects of appearance and performance after the relevant steps, not only immediately after lamination. Record the substrate and adhesive batches and preserve the approved sample. A later change of film, board or adhesive may require another review.

Keep end-use claims separate from appearance

A metallic finish alone does not prove food-contact compliance, a moisture-barrier rating, recyclability or any certification. Such requirements need documentation and testing appropriate to the whole construction and intended market. Include the required evidence in the project brief before selecting materials or making claims to end customers. Send the proposed use, substrate structure and finished sample to discuss the suitable YDLM process scope.
