Preparing Paper and Board Samples for a DWLX Sheeter Trial

The DWLX1300L and DWLX1400L double rotary sheet cutters are designed for paper and packaging board. The product specifications distinguish material width, cut length, roll handling and stacking requirements for the two models. Review the model specifications alongside the project requirements below.

Identify the material, not only its trade name

Record paper or board grade, grammage, caliper where available, coating or lamination structure, supplier and batch. Include relevant surface-finish and print requirements. Similar grammage does not make two boards equivalent in stiffness, density or handling. Mixed, damaged or unidentified samples make it difficult to determine whether a trial represents the intended production job.

Check the model dimensions and material boundary

The listed material widths are 400–1250 mm for DWLX1300L and 400–1400 mm for DWLX1400L, with cut lengths of 450–1400 mm. The cutter-load entry is no more than 550 g/m², subject to density and quality. These specifications concern paper and packaging board; they do not establish suitability for metal sheet, nonwovens, loose foil, plastic film or every corrugated structure.

Supply a representative roll and job brief

Share roll diameter, core size, width, mass and storage history, along with target sheet dimensions and downstream use. Note curl, visible damage, splice information and any surface that must not be marked. Agree sample quantity and preparation with the supplier before shipment. Any unusual coated or laminated board should be assessed as a complete construction, not just by its paper base.

Agree what a successful trial must show

Use an agreed inspection plan for sheet length, squareness, edge finish, surface condition and stack presentation. State the sampling method and acceptance limits before the trial. Keep accepted and rejected samples labeled, and record the actual material and job conditions. A successful sample trial supports the tested combination; it is not approval for all other grades or speeds. Send the sample specification and target sheet format for review.
