Before Ordering a Transverse Cutter: A Buyer’s Checklist

2026-09-17 02:55:28

FQN1200 / FQN1400 Elevation-Type Transverse Cutter

Specify the job before choosing a transverse cutter

Before ordering an elevation-type transverse cutting machine, describe the paper or board job in measurable terms. A model name, headline speed or advertised precision cannot by itself establish whether a machine will meet your finished-sheet requirement.

The Yueda FQN1200 / FQN1400 model comparison lists cutting width and length, material grammage, stacking height and machine dimensions. Use those specifications as a starting point, then confirm the actual configuration and operating conditions with the supplier.

Prepare a clear material and output brief

  • Paper or board grade, grammage, coating and relevant condition.

  • Input material dimensions and handling requirements.

  • Finished sheet dimensions and the tolerance required by the next process.

  • Printed registration requirements, if applicable.

  • Expected job mix, changeover frequency and desired production conditions.

  • Stack handling and the interface with the next operation.

Do not assume that a paper cutter can also process plastic sheet, metal or every composite material. Ask for a suitability review for any material outside the documented scope.

Confirm what elevation-type means for the offered model

The term should be checked against the model drawing and supplier explanation. It is not enough to conclude that the knife head moves vertically, that the cutting angle is adjustable or that the machine accepts any material thickness. Ask which assembly moves, how that arrangement supports the intended workflow and what limitations apply to the supplied equipment.

Separate standard supply from options

Request a written configuration list covering material handling, feeding, cutting, controls and stacking. Clarify which sensing, registration, automation or connection features are included and which require separate confirmation. A feature mentioned in a general industry article is not evidence that it is included in a specific quotation.

Compare quotations on the same basis. Record the included equipment, documentation, commissioning, training, spare parts and service arrangements, without assuming that any of these are automatically included.

Agree a material trial and acceptance criteria

Ask how the proposed model will be demonstrated using representative paper or board. Agree the required sheet dimensions, sample plan, measurement method and acceptance limits. Retain individual sample results and record the conditions of the test.

Length, squareness, edge condition and stack quality should be assessed separately. Printed positioning requirements need explicit confirmation of the proposed configuration. The related transverse cutter accuracy checklist explains how to organize these questions without inventing a universal tolerance.

Check the workshop and handover requirements

Request the approved layout, shipping and handling information, utility requirements and installation responsibilities. Machine dimensions alone do not describe the access and working space needed at your site. Have the relevant specialists review the installation documents before site work starts.

Confirm the manuals, training and maintenance documentation that will accompany the machine. Supplier-led trials and installation must follow the equipment instructions and site procedures; this buying guide is not a direction to adjust or service machinery.

Turn the discussion into a written order specification

Before approval, reconcile the model, material scope, configuration, trial criteria, installation scope and commercial terms. Identify unresolved points and obtain confirmation rather than relying on broad claims such as fully automatic or high precision.
